The numbers you paste

The chart maker is a script that runs in your browser. Parsing, drawing, the explanation and the PNG and SVG files are all produced on your device. The page makes no network request with your data: there is no upload, no server-side chart rendering and no database. You can check this yourself in your browser's developer tools (Network tab) while you use the maker, or read the script at /js/chart.js. The site's content security policy limits the page to loading its own files.

Uploaded CSV files are read by the browser's file reader and never sent anywhere. Nothing you paste is stored between visits either; reload the page and it's gone, apart from the sample template the page starts with.

Cookies and analytics

The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. Fonts are served from this site, not from Google.

What the host logs

Cloudflare, which serves the site, keeps standard request logs (IP address, browser type, page requested, time) for security and to show us how many visits each page gets. We don't combine these with anything else.

When you email, call or text us

We keep your message and our reply in our mailbox or phone for as long as we may need to follow it up, normally no more than two years. If you send data for a custom chart, it's used for that job and deleted when the job is closed unless you ask us to keep it. We don't sell or share contact details.

Children

The tool can be used without giving us any information, so students of any age can use it. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13; a parent or teacher who thinks a child has emailed us can ask for the message to be deleted.

Your choices

Ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you by email. We reply within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this notice, we update the date at the top.
